I'm Brittney Johnson — a Broadway principal actress, NYU Tisch graduate, and professor at the Norwalk Conservatory of the Arts. I've been exactly where you are — preparing to audition for college — and I know what these programs look for. I'm the first Black woman and woman of color to play Glinda in Wicked, a recipient of the NYU University Medal, and a Certified Life Coach. Common questions.
When should I start?▾
The sooner the better — the summer before senior year is ideal for building your book without a time crunch. But I meet students wherever they are, including seniors already deep in the season. Start with a free consultation and we'll map a realistic plan.
Is coaching in person or online?▾
All coaching happens one-on-one over Zoom, so we can work together no matter where you live — and record your self-tapes right from your own space.
What do I need for a self-tape session?▾
Your own camera or phone set up and framed, a quiet and well-lit space, and your accompaniment tracks. You run the recording; I direct every take so you leave with your strongest footage.
Which programs do you help with?▾
BFA, BA, and MT programs, plus straight acting programs, across the country — from prescreens through Unifieds and on-campus auditions.
What does it cost?▾
The consultation is free. Single sessions are $200, Coaching + Self-Tape is $350, and the Prescreen Season package is $1,150 (a $1,350 value).
Can you guarantee admission?▾
No coach can honestly guarantee admission, and I won't promise it. What I promise is that your student will walk in prepared and clear on who they are. As a member of The Norwalk Conservatory faculty, working with me does not affect or guarantee admission to Norwalk.
